Driver Hits Medical Building, Charged With DWI

UPDATE, 9:25 P.M.: 

Suffolk police have identified the driver of the car as Susan Kelly, 54, of Stony Brook. She was not injured in the crash, and is charged with DWI and third-degree reckless assault, both misdemeanors.

Police said Kelly hit two parked cars with her white Acura SUV before she crashed into the building. 

Police said an elderly couple was sitting in the waiting room of the medical office. They were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for minor injuries they suffered when they were hit by debris from the ceiling and walls of the building.

A woman has been charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, after crashing her car into a medical office on Nesconset Highway on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A Brookhaven town building official inspected the building, located at 2500 Nesconset Highway, and evacuated those inside. The accident was reported shortly after 3 p.m.
