A member club of the National Flute Association, the Long

Island Flute Club was founded in 1984 to enrich the musical

lives of flutists in the greater New York area.

Serving professional and student flutists, the club offers a

diverse calendar of events each season. The acclaimed LIFC

concert series has become an integral part of the Long Island

arts scene, attracting an audience of flutists and the general

public.

The diverse programs for students offer the opportunity for

both musical growth and community involvement. Our Flute

Festival, currently in its 19th year, provides an enjoyable day of

performing masterclasses and workshops for all levels of

players. The annual LIFC Holiday Flute Ensemble Concert

benefits a selected charity and is always well-received by the

holiday audiences. The LIFC Professional Flute Choir and

Student Honors Flute Choir perform in the first recital each

season.

Competitions are sponsored for more advanced flutists. Our

High School competition, started in 1985, has been a stepping

stone for many pursuing successful musical careers. Beginning

in 2008, the LIFC will add a college division to the competition.

The LIFC, with support from the Brannen-Cooper Fund, has

hosted several Master Class competition and concert weekends.

Selected flutists gain invaluable performance insight from

internationally renowned professionals. To date, we have

presented Masterclass/Concert programs featuring Susan

Milan, Michel Debost and Donald Peck.

Our newsletter, Flute Notes, informs members of upcoming

events.
