Thanks for that info Ryan(editor). So this man does have "special needs" correct?
Frank Esposito April 23, 2014 at 07:06 pm

With the obscene taxes paid in the Hewlett district you would think they'd make the list. Too muchRead More tax money doesn't equal too much education it seems.
brookhavenconfucius April 24, 2014 at 07:39 am
This list, however imperfect, PROVES that 'THROWING MONEY' at school districts, DOES NOT WORK !
brookhavenconfucius April 24, 2014 at 07:41 am
WHAT'S MORE REPREHENSIBLE, is that MPSD AND RPSD, most likely knew of their NON PERFORMANCE, in theRead More case of MPSD, BEFORE THE RECENT BOND ISSUE VOTE ! IT WOULD BE NO SURPRISE, IF, the bond vote itself, was PURPOSELY scheduled BEFORE the release of this standing list !

Wow, some sick, deeply disturbed people in these threads...
NH citizen April 24, 2014 at 07:34 am
If you think about how much crime we have these days, it is only natural to want to defend yourselfRead More - especially if you are a little older and would not be able to physically defend yourself. Plain and simple - they broke in and he defended himself. He would not have known if they were armed, if there were more people outside that would come in or whether they would try to take his gun and shoot him! Would this be such an issue of the thieves were 2 men or older, etc? NOPE!!!!!!!!
Vindaloo April 24, 2014 at 07:41 am
His intent was to kill, not to protect himself. Otherwise he would have took them down then calledRead More 911. No need at all for the subsequent shots. he's an angry. disturbed killer.

I thank these guys for being active and not hiding while on the public dole. I wonder how many areRead More repeat arrest. At this point anyone engaging in DWI is not stopping. Awareness Education and punishments are in place. I don't believe we will see further reductions in DWI/DUI incidences; just minor fluctuation at current levels. The people who get it got it and the people who are still doing it have a screw loose.
lisa April 24, 2014 at 07:20 am
KUDOS AND CONGRATULATIONS!!! Thankyou for keeping the responsible drivers/community safe. May theyRead More keep up a job more then WELL DONE : )
Bryan Rivera April 24, 2014 at 07:33 am
118 DWI arrests in a year? I could top that in one weekend sitting in the right spot at 2 AM.Read More While I recognize the need to award officers for doing a good job, I'd much rather see a taxi company win an award for bringing the most people home safely, or having the most reasonable fares.

wow. almost all of these comments are so obviously written by woman haters, the kind of men andRead More women that just cannot stand to see a woman in a position of authority. i have just one question for all of you who think you have all the stats on Ms. Clinton, can any of you name the politician that was held responsible for the thousands of lives lost from Ground Zero? You want to talk about fools in government? Remember, this was not the first attack on the World Trade Center? Who let it happen? shame on all of you and your so called facts. your behavior is apparent. feeling sorry for all the women, young and old, who are part of your families. i bet you don't even let them vote or drive cars

dee marie,I love women. Im married to one. It's corrupt, duplicitous woman I don't like. Nice try.

It's hilarious to read the unwarranted, seething hatred displayed here for Hilary Clinton. I meanRead More I really despised your president shrubbery but I didn't make a fool out of myself, going on message boards and calling him a dirty bastard. You people need to get over yourselves and get a hobby other than hating for the sake of hating. You'll live a longer life!
Marilyn April 24, 2014 at 07:18 am
I can't believe some of the comments here! Brookhavenconfucious, smellypants, andRead More eatingdogfood...your comments are cruel! mplo April 24, 2014 at 03:51 am
What kind of a stupid, malicious idiot would pull that sort of a prank? I agree that the kid whoRead More made the phone call to the SWAT team about his opposing video games player was a sore loser, which is why he did that, but he should be criminally prosecuted, made to pay the bill, and perhaps do some community service in order to pay off that big bill. Hopefully, that kid will learn a lesson if he is prosecuted for his prank, which he should be.
nascarblue April 24, 2014 at 07:24 am
this "to me" is not funny, the swat teams are used for serious issues, hostage taking,Read More etc. to have a swat team called to a home behind a video game is stupid, these swat members are trained to save lives, etc. to be called to a home behind a video game is not funny, what happens if a REAL call comes in and swat is needed there, I hope they catch the idiot that called swat and he gets what he/she deserves

Common core problem is that some one sitting in a Wash. DC office decides what's important forRead More children across the nation to learn. Children in Maine, Florida, California, and Washington state learn. The parents have no input. In NYS the problem still exists. Common core is still being implemented here.

TO THE EDITOR....I'm seriously disappointed by the removal of peoples comments overnight.... If youRead More cannot see the flow and context of comments made,, how is one supposed to understand the comments you read? The young man, Black Panther was defending himself and his position in the face of raw bigotry and you removed that?? When you invite unfettered comments from people on a forum such as this,, CENSORSHIP HAS NO PLACE. You either put on your big boy/girl panties and allow Free Speech to run it's course,,, of you SHUT THIS DOWN. I'm so surprised at your actions. Not good!
Anon April 22, 2014 at 02:37 pm
This shouldn't be a publicity stunt. I would absolutely vote you to the board because you exert moreRead More care and compassion and understanding on the matter than I've seen from any of the current board members. Consider running.
Ohairs April 23, 2014 at 06:53 am
Can we use him as a "write in?" Seriously, as with every candidate, I don't agree withRead More EVERYTHING But you certainly couldn't do any worse than what we've got! PLEASE run! You've got another vote behind you if you are who you say you are.
Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.
Susan Harris April 23, 2014 at 10:12 pm
Tamara, what social studies standards are you talking about? The Common Core only covers standardsRead More in literacy and math. There are no CC standards for science or history. Are you talking about state standards?
Tamara April 23, 2014 at 11:35 pm
Common Core has science and social studies standards - they were written after math and ELA - theyRead More have not been implemented yet. They are more controversial so math and ELA was put thru first to pave the way.
Tamara April 24, 2014 at 12:18 am

Netflix is hands down the best deal going, and it has been a bargain for YEARS. I guess theRead More nonsensical whiners who complain about a long-delayed, $2 a MONTH increase are worried it will cost them a (partial) SINGLE LATTE. Utterly ridiculous.

TO MICHAEL BRENNICK: Leftist, Democra... WHAT? You think Comcast is part of the so-calledRead More "liberal" media (which, by the way, doesn't even exist)? Are you freakin' KIDDIN' me? FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup! Should plastic bags be a thing of the past?
CAPICU April 23, 2014 at 03:39 pm
Oh oh ...The bag lady is back
Frank Esposito April 23, 2014 at 07:23 pm
Keep up the good fight Lorraine! If this CAPICU joker lived though the attack of plastic bags that IRead More just survived he would be your number one fan. California is always on the cutting edge of what is great about America. I want NYS to be just like them. Death to the plastic bags! I've received a few painful paper cuts in my life; and while plastic bags have not cut me yet I do fear them greatly. One of my greatest fears is I will get one without the printed warning about not placing it over my head. I usually ask for paper and risk the paper cuts; there is no coming back from suffocation by plastic bag. Although prolonged lack of air hasn't seemed to have affected you greatly. You go girl!
Ron Gilone April 23, 2014 at 08:48 pm
Most plastic bags from stores are HDPE (High density polyethelene). HDPE has been accepted byRead More Brookhaven Town for recycling, but not plastic bags. WHY? - Am I missing something here?

I don't believe this kid is competent enough to make those decisions. Those kids need to beRead More prosecuted to the fullest and if the does judge does not agree he needs to step down.
Pat Mcloughlin April 23, 2014 at 01:27 pm
Sorry, Autistic boy, but there are a multitude of crimes here. These so called 'friends' abused youRead More terribly ~ called 'bullying', & that alone cannot be tolerated. Then, there is animal cruelty involved, another terrible crime, plus, harassment of all kinds, leudness, & who knows what else. These 'friends' need to be charged & made aware of the seriousness of their deeds, punished accordingly & helped through proper mental councelling.
nonoise April 23, 2014 at 05:49 pm
It is probly the parents that want to drop the charges, not the boy. They shouldn't. I don'tRead More know why they would want to drop the charges.

I agree with B. Dub 100%! How was this kid able to scale a fence and just walk right over to theRead More plane? TSA: for all the harassing you do in the terminal...you ain't all that!! As far as the kid being a runaway..maybe he does face some serious abuse issues at home. He's damn lucky to be alive. But, I raised three boys, and a 16 year old boy can runaway for any collage of reasons. My kids never ran away but, I'm wondering if the fact that the plane was going to HAWAII has anything to do with it. It sounds a little compulsive to me. CPA need good follow up on this. Thank you lucky stars kid!

There are two separate issues here. The first and certainly the most obvious is security failure.Read More The second is to determine what is in the best interest of the teen, as well as the public.. He needs a psych eval, at the very least. Then again, so does most of the public.
