<p>Stony Brook University, founded in 1957, is part of the State University of New York  and one of the state's premier educational institutions. It is ranked among the top 200 universities worldwide by the <i>London Times Higher Education-QS World University Ranking</i><i>s</i>. It features an acclaimed medical school and hospital, and offers programs in the arts, journalism, business, engineering and applied sciences, marine and atmospheric sciences, dental medicine, nursing, health technology and management, social welfare and more. Among its decorated faculty -- including three Nobel Prize winners -- 98 percent hold either a doctoral degree or the highest degree in their field.</p>
