The Bureau of Marine Resources is the arm of the Department of Environmental Conservation, which monitors the local fishing industry and deals with all species of fish and crustaceans. The Bureau of Marine Resources is involved with enforcement and habitat protection, and features shell fisheries and a bacteriology laboratory.
