Three Village Agenda: Outdoor Movies, Horse Show and Clam Bake

Benefit

  • Get your car washed for a good cause: An Eagle Scout fundraiser car wash at St. James RC Church in Setauket on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

  • The Claudia Jacobs Band will perform at 5:30 p.m. at Frank Melville Memorial Park on Sunday in the park’s “Wind Down Sundays” summer concert series.

  • Shenole Latimer & Friends (jazz) will perform at 7 p.m. on the village green at Stony Brook Village Center.

Movies

  • Old Field Farm will host a free outdoor movie on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. – “The Return of the Pink Panther.”

  • Catch a free screening of “42” at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library at 2 p.m. on Friday.

  • There’s always something showing at Loews AMC Multiplex in Stony Brook.

  • Family

    • Weather permitting, Thursday evenings hold family-friendly horse-and-carriage rides starting at 6 p.m. at the Stony Brook Village Center ($3 per person).

    • Saturday is back-to-school day at the Village Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with activities for kids and a setup to have your children fingerprinted for the Suffolk County Police Department’s Amber Alert system.

    Cultural

  • Sunday is the Nassau Suffolk Horsemen’s Association annual horse show and clam bake at Old Field Farm. Start time 11:30 a.m., tickets $55-$75.

  • Check out “Long Island’s Auto Racing Heritage” at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Educational & Cultural Center. Visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

  • There’s always something cool on display at the Long Island Museum of Art, History & Carriages in Stony Brook, whether it’s their newly renovated carriage galleries, the old Nassakeag school room, the art museum and more.

  • Comedy

    • The Velvet Lounge is making a foray into stand-up comedy, with a show hosted by Jimmy Britt at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night. See the flyer here.

    Food & Drink

    • Mora’s will host a free wine tasting on Saturday at 3 p.m. featuring Paumanok Vineyards.



    PORT JEFFERSON

    Entertainment

    • Can you build a boat using just plywood, lumber and adhesive – then race it? Check out the Sikaflex Boat Building Challenge at Bayles Boat Yard at Harborfront Park starting on Saturday at 10 a.m. ($100 per team/12 teams maximum).

    • Willow Creek Golf and Country Club will host a dinner and comedy night on Friday starting at 7:30 p.m.

  • You can also catch a comedy show at Theatre Three’s Friday Night Face-Off ($15) at 10:30 p.m.

  • Fine Arts

    • Art historian Robert Reis will give a talk about Robert Rauschenberg, a painter and graphic artist whose work became popular in the 1950s. The event is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Port Jefferson Free Library.

    • “DJ House Party” will rule the dance floor on Friday at Port Jazz starting at 9 p.m., and Terri Hines’ 70s dance party will take over on Saturday starting at 10 p.m.

    • Beatles fan? Check out “Beatlemania Now” at Theatre Three on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. (tickets $45).

  • Head to PJ Cinemas to see what’s showing locally.

  • Family

    • The Maritime Explorium’s summer hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

    • Catch “The Frog Prince” at Theatre Three at 11 a.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday (tickets $10).

    Health & Wellness

    • The weekly Farmer’s Market takes place in the parking lot in front of the Frigate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday in Port Jefferson.
