  • Saturday is Family Art Day at the Stony Brook Village Center. Starting at 10 a.m., you and the kids can enjoy sand art, drawing, puppet design and more, as well as view the work of local artists and artisans.

  • The Three Village Historical Society is putting on a history walk featuring local historian Bev Tyler as the farmer and spy Abraham Woodhull. The walk is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. starting at the Caroline Church Carriage Shed.

  • “Long Island’s Auto Racing Heritage” is the current show on display at the WMHO’s Educational & Cultural Center.

  • “Coney Island & Jones Beach: Empires by the Sea” is the current show on display at the Long Island Museum of Art, History and Carriages.

  • Health & Wellness

    • The “Caring for the the Caregiver” support group will meet on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Caroline Church. It’s a non-denominational support group open to those who are caring for a seriously ill loved one.

    Live Music

    • This week’s “Wind Down Sunday” performance at Frank Melville Memorial Park will be Blue Tourmaline, featuring an eclectic mix of rock and blues, starting at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

    • Sunday night will also feature a musical performance on the village green in Stony Brook by “Time Was...” (“music for all generations”) at 7 p.m.

    Educational

    • There’s a Kindle workshop at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library on Friday night at 7 p.m. Call the library at 631-941-4080 to sign up.

    The Holistic Moms Lake Grove Chapter will host a free lecture on digestive health on Friday at 7 p.m. at Whole Foods.

    MILLER PLACE-ROCKY POINT

    Outdoors

    • Over in Calverton, the Long Island Adventure Race kicks off on Saturday at 9 a.m. Not your ordinary 5K, this race features obstacles, mud pits and more.

  • The 8th Annual Ruff Riders Rally takes place on Saturday. The motorcycle ride, raising funds for Save-a-Pet LI, will run from Rocky Point to Patchogue, starting at 11 a.m. Registration is $20 per biker.

  • Health & Wellness

    • Head on over to the North Shore Public Library on Saturday morning starting at 10 a.m. for an all-out experiential yoga journey, from discussion of the yoga philosophy, to participation in different kinds of classes and more.

    PORT JEFFERSON

    Benefit

    • For the first time, a walk-a-thon for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be held at Comsewogue High School on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. Click here for more details.

    Entertainment

    • The Port Jefferson Free Library will host a free screening of the Tina Fey film “Admission” on Friday at 2 p.m.

    • Theatre Three will host improv comedy in “Friday Night Face-Off” on Friday starting at 10:30 p.m. ($15 tickets).

    • Theatre Three will also host tributes to Johnny Cash (Friday night, 8 p.m.) and Elvis (Saturday night, 8 p.m.). All tickets $30.

    Live Music

    • Like Journey and U2? Then you’ll probably like Almost Journey and 2U, tribute bands that will be playing at Port Jazz on Friday at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., respectively.

    • Check out an 80s cover band, Guilty Pleasures, at Port Jazz on Saturday starting at 9 p.m.

    • On Sunday, the Beyond Visible CD release party starts at 2 p.m.

    Family

    • The Maritime Explorium is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday.

  • A family-friendly version of “The Frog Prince” will be performed at Theatre Three on Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., as well as Saturday at 2 p.m. “Rumpelstiltskin” will be performed on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
