Parade of American Flags, Spirits Tasting Among This Week's Best

A look at what's going on around town this week.

It's Columbus Day, which means if you are a school or government worker, you probably have the day off. For everyone else, 5 p.m. will be here before you know it.

Three Village schools are closed Monday, as is Brookhaven Town Hall.  There's also no mail delivery today. The Emma S. Clark Memorial Library is open its normal hours from 9:30 a.m.- 9 p.m.

Ward Melville also has a slate of varsity matches this week. See our guide below.

Here's what's on tap around town this week:

Monday- The "Parade of American Flags" will be held at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai from 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. A hundred national, armed forces, states, territories and local flags are flown and 56 signs give information about the states. The event is free.

Tuesday- Come to listen, learn and share your memories of the Three Village area at the Emma S. Clark Library at 10 a.m. Bring your old photographs or artifacts and discover what stories they may hold. Meet in the Board Room on the lower level of the library. Please call Karen at 751-4775 if you are interested in attending.

Wednesday- Do you have questions about health care reform and how you can apply for health insurance in the new system. Get your questions answered about the Affordable Care Act at the Comsewogue Public Library at 2 p.m. The program is open to all Suffolk County residents. Call 928-1212 or visit the library online to register.

Wednesday- Stop by Mora's in E. Setauket at 4 p.m. to taste and learn about some great North American spirits. Tasting is free and featured items are discounted for purchase.
