Volunteer Roundup: Help a Local PTA, Hospital, or Soup Kitchen

Five places you can volunteer this week in the Three Village area.

The people of Three Village have something of a reputation for how they give back to their community. When a family or a community organization is in need of help, you can bet our residents are always there to provide it.

That's why Three Village Patch is introducing a new feature, "Volunteer Roundup." Each week, we'll highlight community organizations in and around Three Village which are need of volunteers to help them with their day-to-day operations or with a special event they are planning. If you are part of a group that is in need of volunteers, please let us know by adding a "Volunteers Needed" announcement or sending us an email.

The Arrowhead PTA is hosting its 12th annual at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m.  For more information on how to volunteer, or to find out how to attend this event, contact ToniAnn Nardella at toni987@optonline.net or Linda Maloney at linmal@optonline.net.

Each year, over 500 people volunteer their time in almost every area within the hospital, according to its website. Volunteer opportunities are open to people of all ages, including students as young as 14 years old as well as college students who may be seeking ways to serve the community while at the same time exploring their own career options. Volunteer assignments are available seven days a week between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Call the volunteer department at 631-444-2610 to learn how you can get involved.

Our Daily Bread is an outreach ministry of St. James Church. Every Sunday at 5 p.m., Our Daily Bread invites men, women and children in need of a hot meal to enjoy one in the basement of St. James Church. Volunteers are needed to help with the meal and provide canned goods to patrons; donations of furniture and appliances are also welcome.  To learn more about the soup kitchen, click on the link above or call 631-941-4141.
