Teen Volunteers Launch Food Drive at Library

Food donations will be accepted through July.

Teen volunteers at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library have put together a month-long food drive – the first of its kind at the library – to benefit Our Daily Bread at St. James Church.

The teens designed fliers and bookmarks to promote the event, which will run the entire month of July, and will be taking care of transporting the food to the pantry as well.

Nanette Feder, Teen Services Librarian, said they decided to run the drive in July because it's the busiest month of the year.

Lisa DeVerna, manager of Community Awareness and Special Projects at the library, said the mission of the library is "to serve the entire community."

"One of the ways we do this is by partnerships with other organizations or local businesses in the Three Village area," she said. "The library does so much more than just what is within the building's physical walls, and the food drive is a perfect example of this."
