Restaurant Deal to Support Children's Hospital Fundraising Efforts

Diners at a handful of local restaurants can help support Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital.

Through Jan. 16, several local restaurants are offering a three-course, price-fixed menu deal to help Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital raise money for programs and facilities.

For each diner who selects the menu deal, which costs $29.95 per person, restaurants will donate $5 or more to the children's hospital, which for programs and facilities.

"Wherever you go you're going to get different food, so there's a nice variety," said Karin Caro, a member of the hospital's fundraising task force. "If you're going to choose to dine out, its a really nice way to give back to the hospital."

Among the participating restaurants is Mirabelle Tavern and Restaurant Mirabelle, whose founder and chef, Guy Reuge, said he was happy to join the effort when suggested by Mirabelle's corporate parent, Peter Lessing of Lessings Inc.

"It's a great cause," Reuge said. "There is not a special hospital for children in Suffolk County and there is certainly a need."
