Bella, a three-and-a-half year old girl from Setauket, spent this past holiday season collecting pairs of shoes for people in Africa who are in need of good ones. How many pairs? Seventy-one, which her family sent to the nonprofit Soles 4 Souls.
Bella's mom Diana said she was inspired to take part in the Soles 4 Souls shoe drive after introducing Bella and sister Delia to the nonprofit. "Bella was very concerned immediately because she knows how important her shoes are to her," Diana said in an email to Patch.
A spokeswoman for Soles 4 Souls said Bella is among the youngest volunteers to participate in its shoe drive.
