Women's Lacrosse to Close Out Season at Yale

A look back at the highlights of this season.

As Stony Brook prepares to take on Yale in its women's lacrosse season finale on Saturday, here's a look at some of the highs and lows of the season.

Stony Brook has a pair of high-scoring seniors who will be looking to make a mark in their final game. Melissa Cook is climbing up the record books, adding 25 goals this season for 109 in her career, fourth all-time. Cook is also fifth-best in points with 144. Classmate Samantha Djaha is close behind with 23 goals on the year, propelling her to 94 overall, good enough for fifth all-time. Djaha needs one more point to take over sole possession of seventh place in career points.

Abby Ford may only be a junior, but she's already fourth all-time in assists with 44. Ford is fourth in the conference with a 1.29 assists per game.

Freshman Alyssa Cardillo has been a key contributor this year. She currently has 20 assists, tied for ninth place on the single season list.  If Cardillo can register two assists she'll jump up to the seventh spot. At the moment, Cardillo is third in the America East Conference with 1.43 assists per game.

Finally, Mickey Cahill will play her final game in goal for the Seawolves on Saturday. Cahill was already in the record books with the second-most career saves, coming into the 2011 season. This year she's added 115 to her total, the second-highest in the America East Conference. She also owns a 45.5 save percentage, also second in the conference for those with at least five games played.

With a win against the 2-12 Bulldogs (2-11, 0-6 Ivy League), the Seawolves (4-10, 2-12 America East) will have won five games for the first time since 2008. Stony Brook finished 3-12 in 2010 and 4-12 in 2009. Yale, the host of Saturday's game, has scored 44 goals at its home games as compared to 21 goals at its away games.
