Where to Watch the World Cup in Three Village

Local pubs and restaurants to offer specials for soccer fans during the games.

Whether you're looking for a party atmosphere or something more family-friendly, Three Villagers can catch the World Cup action this weekend at a variety of places in town.

Television Heaven

The Bench in Stony Brook has Three Village's largest collection of TVs, with 37 flat screens on premises. With the capacity to hold more than 200 people in its dining rooms and more than 50 people at the bar, The Bench has attracted not only regulars but also first-time visitors watching the games. World Cup specials include $3 tap beers, $4 well drinks, and half-price appetizers.

One Word Says it All – "Free"

The Velvet Lounge in Setauket, equipped with two flat-screen TVs at the bar, will be offering a free buffet starting at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday for the World Cup finale. The lounge has a reputation for attracting a fun and diverse crowd. "I come here because they have a couple of draft beers I can't find anywhere else," said Stony Brook resident Gary Gregoretti.

The Country Corner Tavern will also be offering free eats. With three TVs, six taps and 16 different bottles, it tends to attract a heavily local crowd.

Fit for a Champion

With 20 TVs and a blackboard full of specials, Champs Sports Lounge at J&R's Steakhouse in Stony Brook might be the place for you. The lounge will be offering happy hour specials between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. this weekend.

Starring... Food for Every Appetite

For a more family-friendly atmosphere, check out Jake Starr Cafe. The restaurant, which is still awaiting its beer and wine license, features three flat screen TVs viewable from every seat in the house. A wide selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, including a children's menu, is available. "You can actually watch the game and get great food too," said owner Scott Koppelman.

Good Things Come in Threes

Mirabelle Tavern at the Three Village Inn, which boasts three TVs, 10 beers on tap, and more than 50 bottled beers, will be offering happy hour specials during this weekend's World Cup games. Soccer fans may find a moderate crowd here. "It's a nice little crowd watching the game here," said bar manager Dave Marzano. "We crank up the sound on the TV."

Eat, Drink, and Relax

At the Setauket Village Diner, many of the regulars are sports fans, which is what motivated owners Constantinos Drepaniotis and Eugene Drepaniotis to install two flat-screen TVs in the center of the restaurant. The diner serves beer and wine. "We're kind of low-key. Come eat dinner, have a few appetizers," Constantinos Drepaniotis said.

To Drink, or Not to Drink?

Pentimento has a full bar and diverse craft beer selection, but it also offers some unique non-alcoholic beverages too, including lavendar soda, cucumber soda, and lemongrass soda. The restaurant has one flat-screen TV located at the bar.
