Where Are They Now? Field Hockey Star Georgia Holland

Holland was named Ward Melville High School's most outstanding female athlete in 2010.

Former Ward Melville sports star Georgia Holland has been busy.

Fresh off her selection as Yale's player of the year this past spring, as well as her unanimous selection as an All-Ivy League athlete, the rising junior has been named to USA Field Hockey's Under-21 squad, according to a release from Yale Athletics.

Holland, who in 2010 was named Ward Melville's top female athlete, now has the chance to represent the USA in upcoming international competition, including the Junior Pan American Championship, taking place Sept. 10 through Sept. 23 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

She also took part in the recent Women's National Championship, in which eight field hockey teams comprised by elite field hockey players from around the country competed against each other. The US Olympic team selections were made following that tournament.

Holland was a threat both offensively and defensively this past season at Yale, tying for second place on the team in goals and points (9-4-22).
