Ward Melville Playoff Games Still On for Friday, Saturday

Soccer, football, and field hockey teams will fight for championships.

Game on.

The Ward Melville athletic department has confirmed that Patriot playoff games will still take place Friday and Saturday despite the challenges the school has faced with power outages and weather concerns.

The playoff schedule is as follows:

Friday

  • Girls' soccer: No. 4 Ward Melville plays No. 12 Sachem North at 2 p.m.
  • Boys' soccer: No. 3 Ward Melville plays No. 14 Smithtown East at 5 p.m.

Saturday

  • Field hockey: No. 5 Ward Melville at No. 4 Smithtown East at 9:30 a.m.
  • Football: No. 8 Ward Melville at No. 1 Connetquot at 1 p.m.
  • Girls' swimming: Team goes for its 21st straight county championship at Suffolk CC on Saturday afternoon

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.…Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does it…Read More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
