Ward Melville Girls Headed to County Lacrosse Championship Game

Patriots defeat East Islip 13-5 on Wednesday.

It was only on Monday that the Ward Melville girls' lacrosse team broke what its coach was calling the Now, the team is headed to the Suffolk Division I lacrosse championship game for the first time since it last won the title in 2007.

According to Newsday stats, top-seeded Ward Melville (17-1) defeated No. 5 East Islip on Wednesday, 13-5. The win sets up a game against No. 2 Bay Shore (17-1) on Thursday, May 31, at 8 p.m. at Dowling Sports Complex.

Ally Tilley had four goals to lead the Patriots. Emily Rogers-Healion and Kelsey Nagle each tallied two goals and three assists, and Emma Jehle made seven saves in goal.

Ward Melville handed Bay Shore its only loss of the season, a 10-8 contest on April 20.
