Hofstra goalkeeper Kaitlyn De Turo, a former field hockey standout at Ward Melville High School, was named the Colonial Athletic Association's player of the week in field hockey, according to a Hofstra news release.
De Turo, a red-shirt junior from South Setauket, tallied nine saves in Hofstra's 1-0 win over No. 12 Boston University on Sunday. She has played every minute of the 14 games she has started for the Pride this season, and has a 2.14 goals against average, .750 save percentage, and a 6-8 record this season.
While she was at Ward Melville, De Turo posted a 23-1 record with 18 shutouts in 2008 en route to the field hockey team's first Class A New York State championship.
