Three Village Scoreboard: SBU Women Look Promising with Win over Sacred Heart

A look at local sports highlights from our local schools.

With a 51-46 win over Sacred Heart on Tuesday, the Stony Brook women's basketball team broke the .500 mark for the first time since the 2005-2006 season. With a 4-3 record, the team has already matched its win total from last season.

Led by junior Chikilra Goodman's 19 points and 16 rebounds and Ericka Norman's eight points, seven assists and 10 steals. The team opened the second half with a 15-0 run and the turning point came when Sabre Proctor sank a three-pointer that put the Seawolves ahead for good with about three minutes left in the game.

Head coach Beth O'Boyle called it a great program win. "One of the things we were most excited about was our mental toughness tonight," she said. "They are a very good team and they are very well coached, but we bounced back in the second half and did a great job defensively and on the glass."
