Stony Brook Still Alive in NCAA Super Regionals

Seawolves tie the series with a 3-1 win over LSU on Saturday.

Stony Brook followed up its 12-inning loss to LSU with a 3-1 win of its own on Saturday afternoon to even out the best-of-three series in the NCAA Super Regionals and set up a winner-take-all game Sunday afternoon.

The Seawolves, seeded No. 16, were led by senior Tyler Johnson, who allowed three hits and one earned run in his third win of the postseason. Sophomore Kevin Courtney had three hits and an RBI and Sal Intagliata and William Carmona each had an RBI for Stony Brook.

Number one seed LSU fought for a 5-4 win in the first game of the series, which the teams played to a tie through 11 innings Friday night before the game was postponed due to inclement weather. LSU needed just one inning Saturday morning to win the game.
