The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team garnered two first-place votes but ultimately was picked to finish in second place behind Albany in the America East preseason coaches' poll, the university announced Thursday. The team was tied for second place in the poll with UMBC, which received one first-place vote. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
The team will rely on its youth, according to a recent Inside Lacrosse team preview. Second-year coach Jim Nagle has a roster of which nearly half are freshmen – 17 of them, on a 35-person roster.
Tickets for the season and for individual games are already on sale and can be purchased by calling 631-632-WOLF or visiting GoSeawolves.org. The team opens its season on Feb. 9 at noon against Fairfield.
