Stony Brook Baseball Still Alive in NCAA Regionals

Fourth-seeded Seawolves will play for the Regionals win on Monday.

Facing elimination on Sunday evening, the Seawolves' offense combined for 15 hits in a 12-5 win over UCF in a NCAA Coral Gables Regional playoff game. Maxx Tissenbaum and Tanner Nivins each had two RBI for fourth-seeded Stony Brook, which will have to beat No. 3 UCF one more time on Monday in order to advance.

Jasvir Rakkar gave up seven hits in six innings and earned the win for Stony Brook.

Earlier on Sunday, a two-out three-run double by sophomore Kevin Courtney in the seventh inning gave Stony Brook the lead for good in the 10-7 win over No. 2 Missouri that set up the game against UCF. Courtney finished with two hits and three RBI, and Travis Jankowski had three hits in the win. Sophomore Frankie Verdanka pitched 6.2 innings in relief to earn the victory.
