It's going to be a big week for local athletic teams. Three Ward Melville teams and two Stony Brook University teams are still postseason contenders. Which Three Village teams are you cheering for?

No. 8 Middle Country features Nikki Ortega, the No. 4 leader in points in Suffolk County. Ward Melville Boys' Lacrosse Smithtown East quarterfinals Tuesday 5/22 – 4:30 p.m. Ward Melville HS No. 6 Smithtown East (11-6) advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over No. 11 Walt Whitman last week. No. 3 Ward Melville had a first-round bye and enters the contest with a 13-3 overall record. Ward Melville Boys' Tennis Westhampton Seminfinals Tuesday 4/22 – 4 p.m. Ward Melville HS Ward Melville (15-0) enters the game as the No. 2 seed, and has at least 10 shutout matches this season. No. 10 Westhampton (10-6) overturned No. 7 Patchogue-Medford in the quarterfinals.
Stony Brook University Baseball Maine Round 1 of double-elimination tournament series Wednesday 5/23 – 3 p.m. Joe Nathan Field at SBU No. 1 Stony Brook (43-11) has won its second straight regular-season title and enters the double-elimination tournament having won 19 of its last 20 games. No. 4 Maine is 26-26 overall. Stony Brook University Track N/A NCAA Regional May 24-May 26 University of North Florida Eric Speakman (1,500), Patricia Barry (10,000), Olivia Burne (1,500), and Lucy Van Dalen (1,500) will represent SBU.

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.

With declining enrollment and cuts to programs for our kids they only ones making out are teachers and staff with too generous salaries and benefits. Vote no on Tuesday!

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does itRead More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels ofRead More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
