Ward Melville is one of three football teams with a 2-0 Division I record after this weekend's football matchups, following a big win over Half Hollow Hills East on Friday night. According to MSG Varsity, Jake Biro's 24-yard rushing TD with three minutes left capped a 15-point fourth quarter for the Patriots, who took home a 46-42 win on the road. Biro connected on 11 of 18 passes for 150 yards, with two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and carried the ball 11 times for 123 yards.
Stony Brook 20, East Hampton 14: Don Liotine's 75-yard TD pass to Tyler Hoegsberg in the fourth quarter gave the Bears (2-0) the win. Liotine also rushed 12 times for 118 yards and was named one of MSG Varsity's Gridiron Greats of the week.
Syracuse 28, Stony Brook University 17: The Seawolves (2-1) took a 17-14 lead into halftime but allowed some costly penalties in the second half as Syracuse finished with the win. Dominick Reyes led the defense with 11 tackles.
