Sports Flash: Seawolves, Patriots, Bears Take Home Football Wins

Three local football teams scored big this weekend.

Stony Brook University 77, Pace University 7: SBU sets a new school record in Division I with 77 points, breaking the previous record of 76 points set last season against Gardner-Webb. Running backs Miguel Maysonet and Marcus Coker scored two touchdowns each as Stony Brook (2-0) scored on its first 10 possessions. Read more from GoSeawolves.org.

Ward Melville 41, Brentwood 13: According to MSG Varsity, Jake Biro finished with 103 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns, and 83 yards passing with two touchdowns for Ward Melville (1-0), which totaled 411 yards of offense on Saturday. Brendan Hegarty finished with 132 yards and a touchdown and Matt Corrie had 10 tackles and a sack for the Patriots.

Stony Brook 38, Greenport/Southold 21: According to MSG Varsity, Donald Liotine racked up 262 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries to lead Stony Brook (1-0) on Friday night. Quarterback Marco Masakayan connected twice with Tyler Hoegsberg for touchdown passes of 51 and 66 yards, and added 47 yards on seven carries for the Bears.
