Seawolf Scoreboard: Football Routs Presbyterian

Men's soccer wins playoff opener, women's volleyball takes third straight.

Football

Stony Brook 37, Presbyterian 7: Michael Coulter threw a career high 4 touchdown passes and the Seawolves outgained Presbyterian in yardage 509-176 en route to their biggest blowout of the season. Presbyterian kept the game scoreless until halfway in the second quarter when Miguel Maysonet caught a 7 yard touchdown pass from Michael Coulter for a 7-0 lead that the Seawolves took into halftime. After the break the Stony Brook offense opened up, scoring 30 second half points for a 37-0 lead before Presbyterian scored a touchdown with 20 seconds left for the final score. Maysonet, the Big South Conference's leading rusher ran for 130 yards to put him over 1000 for the season. Coulter was 12-20 for 212 yards and did not throw an interception for the fifth straight game. Brock Jackolski added 101 rushing yards. The Seawolves are 4-0 in the conference for the second straight year heading into their home finale.

Women's Volleyball

Stony Brook 3, UMBC 2: Trailing in the final set, Stony Brook reeled off six straight points to win their third straight match (16-25, 25-17, 20-25, 27-25, 15-13) and fourth in their last five. On senior day the school honored Jeanette Gibbs and Ashley Headen, both of whom rose to the occassion with tremendous games. Gibbs had 29 digs, including the 1000th of her career and Headen scored 10 kills. The Seawolves are now tied for third place in the America East Conference (6-4) with UMBC.

Swimming & Diving

Freshman Renee Deschenes won the 1000 freestyle, 200 butterfly, and 200 backstroke to lead the women to a 184-116 victory over Maine. Allison Zelnick (200 free and 500 free) and Darcy Heuser (50 free and 100 free) each won two individual events. Sean Conway was victorious in the 50 free and 100 free, but the Stony Brook men fell to Maine 160-134. Both teams placed first in their respective 400 free relay.
