Stony Brook athletic director Jim Fiore offered up SBU's facilities to the New York Jets for an Aug. 21 training-camp practice, ESPNNewYork.com reported Tuesday.
The Jets, for whom Fiore would have waived the usual facilities rental fee, have opted to hold that practice at MetLife Stadium instead, according to the report.
"I'm disappointed for the people of Long Island -- and there are a lot of Jets fans on Long Island. We'd love to have the Jets," Fiore told ESPN.
He said Stony Brook plans to make a bid to host Jets training camp after the Jets' contract ends with Cortland State, whose contract with the team expires in 2013.
