Maysonet Reportedly Signs With Eagles

Undrafted running back goes to team that did not draft a running back

Update: Following the end of Saturday's draft, Miguel Maysonet was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, according to multiple reports.

Maysonet, predicted by some to go as early as the fifth round, was reportedly one of six free agents signed by the Eagles, who did not draft any running backs this year.

CSN Philly reported that Maysonet agreed to terms with Philadelphia, as did Riverhead News-ReviewRiverheadLocalStony Brook Athletics and News 12's Jamie Stuart.

The Eagles currently boast three running backs on their depth chart, according to their website: starter LeSean McCoy, Bryce Brown and Chris Polk.

Original story:
Riverhead High School grad and Stony Brook alum, running back Miguel Maysonet, was not one of 254 prospects chosen at the 2013 NFL Draft – though the possibility of being picked up as a free agent still remains.

Maysonet's name was the last one mentioned by ESPN draft analyst before "Mr. Irrelevant" – the last player in the draft – was chosen. That ended up being tight end Justice Cunningham out of South Carolina.

"He has the ability," Kiper said. "He showed it against Army. He showed it against Syracuse. He's still available."

Maysonet, who never missed a game during his college career, finished the 2012 season with 1,964 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was the runner-up for the Walter Payton Award this year, given to the best college football player in the FCS.

But even the New York Giants picked a running back with the second-to-last pick in the draft over Maysonet, opting to go with UMass grad Michael Cox.

Maysonet's name was at the top of ESPN's "best available running back" list, and many scouts saw him being drafted in later rounds.
