Former Seawolf Lacrosse Standouts Picked in NLL Draft

Kevin Crowley is No. 1 pick; Jordan McBride is No. 13.

Former Stony Brook lacrosse standout Kevin Crowley was the No. 1 draft pick and teammate Jordan McBride was No. 13 in Wednesday's National Lacrosse League entry draft, the Stony Brook athletic department annouced Wednesday.

Crowley, who earlier this year was by the Philadelphia Wings in the Major League Lacrosse draft, became the first player in lacrosse history to get drafted first in both professional leagues. In 2010, he was chosen as the Enners Award winner – which goes to the USILA's most outstanding Division I player. He racked up 131 goals and 101 assists, one of only 40 players in NCAA history to surpass 100 career goals and assists.

Wings general manager and head coach Johnny Mouradian predicted Crowley will be a star.

"We really like his commitment to develop his game at the highest level. Our coaching staff and players look forward to seeing him on the floor," Mouradian said via the Wings website.

McBride, the all-time scoring leader at Stony Brook with 175 goals, was selected 13th by the Colorado Mammoth. He stands at No. 10 on the NCAA all-time goal scoring list, and was picked 14th in the Major League Lacrosse draft in January. He set a school record during his second-ever game by scoring 10 goals against Delaware, and scored at least 40 goals in all four years at Stony Brook.
