The women of St. Petersburg wear heels all of the time. Throughout the summer heat and throughout the ice and snow of the brisk Russian winters, they wear heels. Three-inch to six-inch stiletto heels. They walk effortlessly over uneven pavement, cobblestone, uphill and downhill. Through the slick rain-soaked pavement, they make it work. And the heels do not discriminate, from 6-year-old girls to 50-year-old women. The locals say it is personal style to wear heels. If it is personal taste or not, I have never seen so many women work their heels the way Russians do. More power to them.
