'Wolfstock' Homecoming Events Start Wednesday

Annual celebration at Stony Brook will include a BBQ party open to the public along with Saturday's football game.

Sure, colleges around the country celebrate homecoming every fall. But Wolfstock isn't only for the students – it's for the community, too.

It's being hailed as "Long Island's Biggest Backyard BBQ" – a party on the athletic field at Stony Brook University that's open to the public. It's kid-friendly. The festivities start at 3 p.m. and continue into the football game against Colgate at 6 p.m. For more information, visit its event listing here or head to the Seawolves website to buy tickets.

The festiviites will even feature fireworks.

The celebration kicks off Wednesday for students with a 12 p.m. carnival on the Academic Mall, featuring games, performers, the popular Apple Market, and more. It continues Thursday with a party in the Student Activities Center auditorium where students can vote for their favorite Homecoming king and queen nominees. On Friday, head down to the Staller steps for the "Seawolves Showcase," where students can see live musical and dance performances by popular student groups and organizations.
