Whiz Kid: Arezu Esmaili Recognized for Tech-Savvy Aspirations

Applauding the achievements of Three Village students.

Some kids attend soccer camp or lacrosse camp; Arezu Esmaili, however, attended "Tech Prep" summer camp last year. It's just one way she has shown an interest in technology, and after one of her teachers endorsed her, she won a national award from a center promoting women's success in technology. And now, Arezu is this week's Patch Whiz Kid.

  • Clubs & activities: Soccer, gymnastics, track, tennis, student government, Global Language Club, National Junior Honor Society, Global Language Honor Society
  • Arezu's achievement: Winner of the National Center for Women and Information Technology Award for Aspirations in Computing. Specifically, Arezu said she is interested in programming and graphic design, and she likes the idea of technology because "there is always something new; it is always changing."
  • Arezu's key to awesomeness: Students can find success if they show "perserverance, effort, tenacity and above all hard work," she says.
