Two Local Women Honored as Distinguished SBU Alumni

Jane Corrarino and Marilyn Simons receive awards from Stony Brook University Alumni Association.

Jane Corrarino of Poquott and longtime East Setauket resident Marilyn Hawrys Simons were honored this week as distinguished alumni by Stony Brook University's Alumni Association.

The association each year honors several alumni who have made extraordinary accomplishments in their career paths and demonstrated commitment to the university and its values.

"Each one is a dedicated and dynamic person who has made the most of his or her Stony Brook degree," university president Samuel L. Stanley Jr. said in a statement. "They are all a source of inspiration to our emerging scholars, beginning researchers and developing professionals. They represent the best Stony Brook has to offer."
