A breakdown of the proposed school budget as well as school board candidates
Throughout the day, Three Village residents will vote for the proposed school budget for 2011-2012 as well as for four open spots on the Three Village school board. Here is some information you should know before casting your vote.
School Budget Breakdown
- Proposed budget for 2011-12: $174.5 million
- Last year’s budget for 2010-11: $167.1 million
- Total increase: 4.47 percent
- Tax levy increase: 3.8 percent
- Notable proposed cuts/changes: Elimination of 20 teaching and administrative positions and 13 non-instructional positions; elimination of prep-release time for advisor but maintaining student government class; maximizing class size for secondary social studies, physical education and health classes; reduction in funding for athletic games and related equipment; reduced security; elimination of some junior varsity athletic teams; reduction of business education classes, summer guidance and health office services during summer.

As a result of two failed budgets, the District would be required to go on contingency. The proposed budget would need to be reduced by $3,796,101.
