Three Village Students Pen Winning Poems

The creative works of several Three Village students earned top honors at this year’s Walt Whitman Birthplace Association’s annual poetry contest for students in grades 3-12. This year’s program generated approximately 4,000 entries.

P.J. Gelinas Junior High School ninth-grader Isabelle Scott won first prize in category D and seventh-grader Rebecca Holt won first prize in category C. Additionally, Ward Melville High School senior Irene Poster and 10th-grader David Dill won first place in their respective grade categories. The students will be recognized on June 1 at the Walt Whitman Birthplace, where they will receive their awards.
