Three Village Schools Closed Wednesday

Only Arrowhead Elementary has power.

The Three Village School District has cancelled school for Wednesday, after Hurricane Sandy left the district without power in most of its buildings.

According to Board of Education trustee Jonathan Kornreich, the only building with power is Arrowhead Elementary, and the backup generators the district owns will not supply enough electricity to power a full school day.

Wednesday's Trick or Treat Street event at Ward Melville High School is canceled.

At the same time, Kornreich said the district was concerned about transportation since so many of the roads in the Three Village area are blocked by downed trees.

The district has not made a decision about Thursday classes, as decisions will be made on a day-by-day basis.

Is this verified through the district? Will there be a contact to students and faculty today?
