Three Village Elementary School Blazes Red, White and Blue for Flag Day

Three Village Central School District’s W.S. Mount Elementary School was awash in red, white and blue during the ceremonial Flag Day events in mid-June.

Members of the Boy and Girl Scouts helped to blanket the front lawn with the nation’s colors as the entire building celebrated the flag through written word and song. The school’s combined orchestra and band performed the national anthem, and each grade level performed a patriotic song, from “I Love Red, White and Blue” to “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”

Winners of the essay and poster contests shared their winning submissions with the crowd and received commemorative flags from the American Legion Harbor Post #417 members in attendance.

The ceremony concluded with a Mount tradition as the Jeannine Martin Sportsmanship Award was presented. This year’s recipients were Matthew Fiorella and Olivia Marshall.
