Think Magazine: Homeland Security Recommends Security Increase on Campus

Campus publication reports the agency called SBU a sensitive area.

Think Magazine reported Tuesday the Department of Homeland Security has suggested the Stony Brook administration beef up on-campus security, and cited a university source as saying the school's police force has done so within the past two days.

University spokeswoman Lauren Sheprow told Think the move was made as a precaution and that "the increased patrols are not being implemented in response to any specific threat."

According to the article, which cited a News 12 report that aired Monday night, Stony Brook University was "one of dozens of locations" around the island highlighted in the Homeland Security recommendations.
