A hardship fund previously available to help Stony Brook University faculty and staff cope with difficult circumstances has now been opened to students as well.
Administered through the university's Employee Assistance Program, the Stony Brook Hardship Fund is dependent on contributions from the campus community.
"Historically, this fund has only been available to faculty and staff," university president Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr. said in an email to the campus community on Thursday. "However, I think it is important that we respond to disasters as an inclusive community and I have asked for the fund to be opened to students in need as well."
Students, faculty and staff can visit http://www.stonybrook.edu/eap or call the EAP office at 631-632-6085 to find out how to apply for assistance. To contribute to the hardship fund, visit https://alumniandfriends.stonybrook.edu/sslpage.aspx?pid=857 .
