Stony Brook University Logo Panned [POLL]

Students and teachers aren't thrilled, but how do locals feel about the new shield?

In the weeks since Stony Brook University abandoned its circles, stars and strips logo of old for a new graphic that combines them all in one shield, reviews have been mixed.

According to the Stony Brook Statesman, students think the new logo looks dated. At the same time, artist for the original logo Milton Glaser, who designed the famous I LOVE NY campaign, said the shield is a step in the wrong direction.

From The Statesman:

“A shield is an old-fashioned way of depicting a college identity,” Milton Glaser, the graphic artist who designed SBU’s previous logo, said. “One of the things I try to avoid when designing identity for young professional colleges is using imagery that basically comes from another era.”

Supporters of the redesign, which cost the university an undisclosed amount, say the shield conveys strength and aligns the university with other top schools, such as those in the Ivy League, that use shields as logos.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels ofRead More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!

Last year we lost 20 staff...this year we are losing over 50 meanwhile the remaining staff isRead More getting a 6% raise...the UNION is eating itself and ruining our school and the BOE is not dealing with the situation..the benefits are up nearly 13% this year...what do you think will happen next year? Another 60,70,80 to be laid off? My vote is NO!!!!
