Stony Brook University Cancels Classes for Third Day

As region struggles to recover, university will not hold classes.

Stony Brook University has cancelled Wednesday classes at its Stony Brook, Southampton and Manhattan campuses as the region continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy's brutal assault on the area.

In a statement sent out to students and faculty, the university's office of emergency management said the closing include classes at "the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health Technology & Management, School of Social Welfare, and the Dental School," in addition to the main campuses.

"The University Hospital and the Long Island State Veterans Home remain open. All ambulatory surgeries and elective procedures have been cancelled," the office added.
