SBU PhD Student Named Lipper Intern at Museum of Jewish Heritage

Suzanne Swartz will educate young people about Jewish history and the Holocaust.

Suzanne Swartz, a PhD student in Stony Brook University's Department of History, will teach 20th century Jewish history and the Holocaust as part of the prestigious Lipper Intern School Partnership Program at New York City's Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

As part of the internship, Swartz took part in training that included studying the museum's exhibits, attended seminars given by the Museum's scholars, and heard testimony from Holocaust survivors. From there, she will visit classrooms to introduce the topic and later return to discuss and engage students' insights after they attend tours at the museum.

Swartz said the training was beyond informative; it was "personal and moving."
