SBU Moves Up in Kiplinger's 'Best Value' Rankings
University named No. 22 best value for in-state students, No. 9 best value for out-of-state students.
Stony Brook University is the No. 22 best value for in-state students and the No. 9 best value for out-of-state students, according to new rankings released by Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
The university was previously ranked the No. 35 best value for in-state students and the No. 29 best value for out-of-state students.
Stony Brook president Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr. called the rankings gratifying.

"Stony Brook prides itself on delivering the best education at the most affordable price, which is especially important in these difficult economic times," he said in a statement. "This affordability, together with academic excellence, continues to enhance the value of a Stony Brook degree."
According to the university, Kiplinger's "assesses quality and affordability according to a number of measurable standards including competitiveness, graduation rates, academic support, student indebtedness at graduation, cost and financial aid."
