Setauket Elementary second-grader Ava Della Pietra is living her Broadway dream: in January, she will join a national tour of "Les Misérables" and perform the roles of Little Cosette and Young Éponine in 22 cities over the course of 26 weeks.
For her audition, Ava sang "Castle on a Cloud," the well-known song sung by Little Cosette in the show. “I was a little nervous, but as soon as the music started I felt confident and much more relaxed,” she said.
Ava has been performing since the age of 4, having performed on cruise ships and at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.
“I am very excited to join the tour, but at the same time, I am sad because it means I will need to leave my friends and my school," Ava said.
Her fellow students at Setauket Elementary signed a "Setauket Rocks" t-shirt for her on her last day at the school.
