Extreme Heat Postpones Field Day at Nassakeag

Forecast suggest temperatures will reach the mid- to high-90s this afternoon.

Nassakeag Elementary School has postponed 5th Grade Field Day due to the heat wave that is rolling through Long Island today.

Fifth graders were scheduled to have its Field Day between noon and 1:30 p.m. this afternoon but forecasts suggest that temperatures will reach the mid- to high-90s. According to the school, an announcement will be made this afternoon about a postponement date. Monday presents a conflict as the school will celebrate Flag Day.

Field Day for sixth graders, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will go on as planned.
