GREAT VOICES—mostly from opera, but also from
Broadway and the classical American songbook—mostly
Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and Wagner but also
Irving Berlin and Stephen Sondheim. We will talk about
why some voices thrill us, why they are unforgettable,
instantly recognizable—from Caruso, Callas and Pavarotti,
to Sinatra and Streisand. Through a combination of CD's
and videos, we will hear historic voices in arias, songs,
extended opera scenes.
