Class Will Be In Session Tuesday at SBU

Administration urges the Stony Brook University community to use public transportation.

Classes, events and activities will resume Tuesday as scheduled at Stony Brook University, the administration announced Monday afternoon.

However, the school acknowledged that driving to and around the main campus might not be easy, as the process of snow removal is still underway.

"Due to ongoing campus snow removal efforts students traveling to campus are encouraged to carpool if possible or consider utilizing the Long Island Rail Road or the Suffolk County Transit system which are expected to resume normal schedules tomorrow," Larry Zacarese, director of the Office of Emergency Management, said in an email blast Monday.

The University also urged faculty to be understanding of students who might miss classes due to snow related causes.

"Faculty are asked to make every possible accommodation for students impacted by the snowstorm, including not penalizing students for missed class time," Zacarese said the statement.
