Faiza Akhtar introduced herself to the community years ago as president of the PTA at Setauket Elementary. More recently, the former journalist and mother of four helped organize the community's response to the proposed homeless shelter on Christian Avenue. Now, Akhtar, who has lived in Three Village for 13 years, is seeking her first term on the board of education. She is running on a slate with Jackie Rudman, Charlie Massimo and Frank McIntosh.
