Blizzard's Aftermath Closes Three Village Schools on Tuesday; Make-Up Day Set for March 25

School will be out once again as the region deals with the aftermath of the blizzard.

As residents continue to lament the lack of snow plowing on many streets in town, school officials announced late Monday afternoon that Three Village public schools will close on Tuesday.

All activities are canceled as well, according to a note published on the district's website.

"The schools are OK, it's the side roads that are still awful," Jeff Carlson, assistant superintendent for business services, said in an email to Patch. He said the make-up day for the second snow day will be March 25.

Additionally, the Board of Education meeting originally set for Feb. 12 has been postponed until Feb. 26.

Stay tuned to Patch for more updates as they become available.

I cannot believe this! I have to teach my students for their exams and the lack of plowing is horrible!! What is going on.?!?! If I did not do my job there would be Hell to pay! Now we lose a day of Spring Break..... I have been trapped since Friday and I am in disbelief this is 2013.

This is an absolute disgrace. The town supervisor should be forced to resign. How complicated is it to continue to snow plow until the roads are clear ? Actually, where are the snow plows ? Its amazing how all of the snow plows have disappeared ? Has there been a snow plow theft that we have not been notified about ? This truly is an absolute joke !

Yes, Cuomo sent crews to other states while Long Islanders haven't seen a plow yet http://rochesterhomepage.net/fulltext?nxd_id=370472

Not surprised, Cuomo takes everything he can from LI and disperses everywhere but back to LI. Remember in Albany's eyes, LI is wealthy and can take care of the rest of NY and now CT. He is a disgrace and refuses to make it right for LI and our families.

I understand that this was a major storm, but come on. There hasn't been one town plow around. The street I live on was done with a little jeep with a plow. It's a mess. I've lived thru some big storms and I've never seen it this bad. Now the students of 3VCSD are being punished because of the fools running "CROOKHAVEN"

Our neighborhood came together to plow/shovel out our street. Guess we get to keep out tax $.
