Safer, reliable relief for perimenopausal and postmenopausal symptoms

Menopausal symptoms can begin way before menopause—so can relief. Up to 90% of women experience hot flashes/night sweats in perimenopause, which can last up to 10 years. Other bothersome symptoms include anxiety, irritability, poor mood, physical/mental exhaustion, and sleep disturbances. To date, there are few reliably effective approaches to offer long-term relief without increased risk of serious adverse events. Hormone therapies (HT), for example, may carry a greater risk of stroke, blood clots, and certain hormone-sensitive cancers.

1) Menopausal symptoms can also continue long after menopause. Though common menopausal complaints typically dissipate in frequency/severity during postmenopause, many women may continue to suffer from symptoms that affect quality of life. A recent study of over 10,000 British women reported that over half continued to experience hot flashes/night sweats on an average of 10 years after their last period. And those who had discontinued HT were more likely to report symptoms.

Safe, reliable, and natural relief. Many natural therapies—such as phytoestrogens from soy or flax—offer safer relief for both peri- and postmenopausal women, but vary in dependability and success. Recent media attention has been drawn to a special extract of Siberian rhubarb root (ERr 731®) prescribed in Germany since 1993—and now available in dietary supplement form in North America. In peri- and postmenopausal women, the ERr 731 phytoestrogen approach has demonstrated long-term, safe use, without any reported serious adverse effects. And researchers suggest that ERr 731 use is as effective as an ultra low dose of HT for reducing hot flashes. Other common menopausal symptoms have also shown significant reductions in clinical studies with ERr 731.
